Cowboy Joe
Cowboy Joe and his faithful horse Buck
are headed out to do some ropin’. It’s brandin’ season afterall and
there’s plenty of new calves this year. Bowlegged from all that time
spent in the saddle and all that white hair showing Cowboy Joes age
to be sure, he’s been ranching most all his life – wouldn’t have it
any other way. He gets a hankerin’ every now and then for those
quiet evenings out on the open range what with the cows mooing in
the night, the soft whinnying of horses, the camaraderie of his
fellow cowboys sitting around the campfire – of course that feeling
begins to fade a bit when remembering them pesky wolves and rather
vexatious rattle snakes (woke up more than one morning keeping warm
along side a snake or two), not to mention the questionable cooking
skills of his “camp chef”. Cowboy Joe has become somewhat spoiled
what with the fine cuisine he enjoys back home where his wife Miss
Betty cooks up the best grub in the county (won an award or two at
local bake offs!). Maybe it’s best to stick around the homestead for
a bit longer – he’s sure he noticed Miss Betty gettin’ ready to whip
up an apple pie or two.
