The Hitchhiker's Story
A Lil Darlin' Original Art Doll
He may not travel far, usually to his favorite diner meeting up with his war buddies (where they tell the same stories each week) or the bingo hall where he goes mostly to listen to the latest gossip (and to dish a bit of his own), oh, and of course there's the dance hall where he's been taking dancing lessons for the last 5 years (of course he knows how to dance - 5 years!) where, in reality, he really goes to hold his lady love in his arms for a short time each week...but when he does travel, he prefers to "hitch" his way to town. It's getting harder to see over the steering wheel - shrinkage and old age...what a combination! - and he knows his eyesight has seen better days. Best to leave the car in the garage...not to mention the fact that, even though his key ring includes enough keys to lock up the entire state (only two of which he really knows what they are for), a mini flashlight, key ring trinkets given to him by his many grandchildren, and even a key ring locater (all of which currently weighs in at a whopping 1 1/2 pounds), they are constantly MIA! Yes, it's much more romantic, less frustrating - all that honking, though plenty of waving from passing fellow drivers! - and, not surprisingly safer for this social butterfly to grab his trusty walking stick, put his thumb in the air and hitch a ride to town for his weekly outing!

The Hitchhiker's Description
Standing 22" tall, the Hitchhiker prefers to sit on his little wooden bench (6" x 11 1/2"), leaving him 17 1/2" tall. His head, hands and little bare feet have been hand sculpted from ProSculpt polymer clay, baked, painted with acrylics and oils to give him a life-like quality, then attached to a padded, wire armature body, covered in a "knit" skin, leaving him posable to a very small degree. This little Old Geezer is sporting thinning hair created from 100% grey wool with matching eyebrows. His sparkling brown glass eyes and wide smiling mouth help to give this little fella a sweetness saved just for little old men! Dressed in checked wool pants with matching suspenders over a green knit turtleneck sweater, his fancy black and tan textured vest, and handmade leather sandals, this little geezer is ready for whatever the day brings!

As with all Lil Darlin’ Art Dolls, this is a One-of-A-kind piece. No molds were used in the creation
of The Hitchhiker and none made of the original afterwards. This piece has been signed, dated,
numbered 1 of 1 and comes with a signed Photo Certificate of Authenticity.
